Gamer’s Rejoice!
Our current contract with AMC Networks (AMC and WE tv) is up for renewal as of December 31, 2015. Our goal is to assure you that Butler-Bremer Communications is doing everything possible to negotiate a fair deal as well as keep the programming costs that affect your monthly bill, as low as possible.
We want to be sure you are aware of the facts to better understand where the negotiations with AMC are at this point.
- Butler-Bremer Communications and 700 other companies nationwide are currently in negotiations with AMC Networks concerning renewal of a contract for networks such as AMC & WE tv. The contract expires on December 31, 2015.
- AMC Networks may be trying to scare you into believing that you are currently at risk of losing your favorite shows. You are not at risk of losing networks (AMC &WE tv) prior to the December 31deadline because they must contractually provide the signals through this date. After December 31, however, AMC Networks may pull the AMC & WE tv signals from our customers if no agreement is reached.
- Season 6 of AMC’s lone hit show, The Walking Dead, will be on break at that time: the first half of the season will end on November 29, and the second half will kick off in February, 2016 – so our customers will NOT miss any new episodes.
- While we are restricted from talking about specific rates, AMC Networks is demanding a rate increase that is 200% more than the current agreement, and is using the strength of The Walking Dead to push for these higher rates and require carriage for its less-popular channels, including WE tv, BBC America, BBC World, IFC and Sundance Channel.
