The H2 Channel (channel 130) changed to the new VICELAND channel on Monday. According to creative director Spike Jonez, this new channel from Vice Media & A&E “Focuses on trying to understand the world we live in by producing pieces about things we’re curious about, or confused about, or that we think are funny. And if it doesn’t have a strong point of view then it shouldn’t be on this channel.”
This channel is definitely controversial. Shows explore subjects like LBGTQ around the world, theft rings and cryogenics.
If you were an H2 fan, word is that History will be airing H2 shows like Ancient Aliens (and they better, because NO LIE, that is my husband’s favorite show on television!)
And just to make it clear, Butler-Bremer had absolutely nothing to do with this change! A&E changed H2 to VICELAND and got rid of the H2 channel (it no longer exists anywhere).
We hope you find VICELAND interesting, intriguing and definitely different!
I am so sad that this happened. I am already disappointed in the History Channel, as I do not consider shows like Ancient Aliens, Pawn Stars, etc. to be the type of show I am looking for, when looking for programs on history. Often, if the History Channel was airing a show like that, I could find something actually relevant to history on H2. And, vice versa. It is so hard nowadays to find really good, intelligent and stimulating programming. Another channel to help “dumb us down”………….
We are so sorry too Lisa! I think the idea of VICELAND is to provide programming that pushes the boundaries and makes people think. Hopefully the best of H2 will make it onto the History Channel!
