If you haven’t Snapchatted yet, and you have kids or grandkids between the ages of 10 and 30, you are missing out on a really fun, really easy way to stay in touch!
Snapchat is an app for both iOS and android. Within the app, you “snap” a picture or a quick video of yourself, and then you can edit it by drawing or writing on it, adding text or effects or adding a “geofilter” showing where you are.
Or, you can use one of the 10 daily “selfie” filters, which verge on hilarious to ridiculous. You can turn yourself into an old man, a puppy, or even have rainbows shoot out of your mouth!
Then, you send the quick “snap” to one or more of your friends, who can view it for a length of time your specify (between 1 and 10 seconds) before it becomes inaccessible. Then, they generally snap you back. If you are a teenager, it generally continues that same pattern for approximately the next 7 hours straight.
If you want to save a “snap” before you send it, you can easily save it to your phone. Or, you can add it to your daily “story.” Then, at the end of the day, your entire day’s “story” can be seen by the audience you choose—semipublic, or just your friends.
All the kids are doing it these days, and it’s a very simple (and fun!) way to stay connected.
Give it a shot and let us know what you think!
